APC govs condemn Jos bombings
Governors on the platform of the All
Progressives Congress, under the aegis of the Progressive Governors
Forum, on Thursday, condemned the Tuesday’s attack on Jos, the Plateau
State capital.
They also expressed their condolences to the
families of those killed and injured by the “dastardly and mindless”
bomb attack on innocent Nigerians in the course of earning their
legitimate livelihoods.
Chairman of the PGF, Owelle Rochas Okorocha,
while speaking on behalf of his colleagues, in Abuja, said the Jos
bombings, which came barely three days after a similar attack in Kano,
marks a significant escalation in the senseless attacks on Nigerians and
an affront on the Nigerian state.
Okorocha also said it was apparent that
these attacks were intended to cause as much carnage as possible, and to
also increase mutual suspicion among people of different faiths and
ethnicity.
“We urge Nigerians to stand firm and not relent to the antic of terrorists who seek to return us to the dark ages,” he said.
He reiterated the PGF’s commitment to work with all stakeholders to reduce terrorism and address the root causes of terror.
